Wootton Councillor Found Guilty of Historic Sex Offences
Pitcher, 46, from Norman Way in Wootton, faces prison after being found guilty at Isle of Wight Crown Court today (Monday).
Shock Verdict Over 30 Years On
The offences date back over 30 years, between 1990 and 1992, when Pitcher was still a child. The jury spent six days hearing the case, including a powerful statement from the victim. She told the court Pitcher penetrated her twice and stole her virginity.
Victim’s Emotional Testimony
The victim revealed she didn’t initially understand what had happened. It was only after school sex education classes she realised the truth. She blamed herself for years but only through therapy learned it wasn’t her fault.
Jury Delivers Swift Guilty Verdict
Recorder Richard Onslow summed up the evidence and sent the jury out early Monday morning. After just five hours of deliberation, the guilty verdict was handed down.
Sentencing Set For April
Pitcher, a Wootton councillor who denies the charges, will be sentenced at Isle of Wight Crown Court on April 12th.
