Ilkeston Predator Jailed for Sick Sex Attacks on Boys
Attacker Stalks Victim in Local Park
Anthony Lanchester, 20, from Ilkeston, has been locked up for six years and six months after a jury found him guilty of raping one boy and sexually assaulting another.
On the evening of 15 October last year, Lanchester followed a teenage boy as he walked his friend home. He trailed him into Wash Meadows Recreation Ground—known locally as Johnny’s Park—before trying to hug the boy and then sexually assaulting and raping him.
The victim reported the horror to police on 27 November, which led to Lanchester’s arrest on 2 December.
Second Attack While on Bail Shocks Community
In a brazen move, Lanchester struck again while out on bail for the first attack. On 15 April, in broad daylight on Beauvale Drive, Cotmanhay, he sexually assaulted another boy.
He was arrested just two days later, on 17 April, and hit with charges including rape and three counts of sexual assault.
Convicted and Ordered to Stay on Register for Life
Lanchester pleaded not guilty on 30 May, but a Nottingham Crown Court jury disagreed. On 20 October, they found him guilty of rape and two sexual assaults, though he was cleared of one assault charge related to the second victim.
On 1 December, the judge sentenced him to six-and-a-half years inside a young offenders’ institution. Lanchester must remain on the sex offenders’ register for life and is slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Restraining orders protecting both victims will last for five years.
Justice served as Ilkeston’s dangerous predator is finally behind bars.
