Man Dies After Savagely Beaten in Folkestone Street Brawl

Fatal Assault Shocks New Street, Folkestone

Kent Police rushed to New Street just after 1.15pm on Thursday, 6 October following reports of a violent assault. A 49-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and was airlifted to a London hospital. Tragically, he died three days later on Sunday, 9 October.

Two Charged Over Brutal Attack

Mark Green, 41, from East Cliff, Folkestone, and Ruben Smith, 18, from Foord Road South, Folkestone, have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 8 October, and were remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, 7 November.

Police Hunt Witnesses and Footage

Enquiries are ongoing as detectives urge anyone who saw the incident or who has dashcam footage from New Street on that day to come forward. Witnesses can call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/193708/22.
