Eight held after fatal stabbing in Nottingham city centre

Two arrested for murder, others held for assisting

Nottinghamshire Police have arrested eight people amid a murder investigation in the city centre. A 53-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were held on suspicion of murder. Four others—two men aged 49 and 39, and two women aged 44 and 33—were detained for assisting an offender.

Meanwhile, magistrates have extended the police’s questioning time for two additional suspects. A 60-year-old man was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder, and a 50-year-old man was taken into custody Saturday for assisting an offender.

Victim succumbs after stabbing near High Cross Leys

Officers rushed to High Cross Leys, at the junction of Huntingdon Street and Woodborough Road, at about 7.50am on Friday 28 April. Paramedics treated the victim, identified as Mr Anderson, at the scene before rushing him to hospital. Despite medical efforts, he died shortly after at 9.36am.

Police vow to bring all involved to justice

Detective Inspector Clare Gibson, heading the investigation, said: “We have made further arrests over the weekend, bringing the number of people we currently have in custody to eight.” She added: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we remain determined to bring to justice anyone who had involvement in this incident.”

She also urged witnesses: “If you saw or know anything about what happened, please come forward as soon as possible.”
