£20,000 Reward on Offer After Teen Murdered in Leyton

The Met Police have launched a £20,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those behind the brutal murder of Alex, an 18-year-old from south London.

Teen Fatally Shot on Beaumont Estate

Alex was shot dead on the Beaumont Estate, Leyton (E10), at around 1:25am on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Detectives believe he had attended an illegal music event on the estate the night before. Most partygoers had left when shots rang out, leaving only a small group sitting on a bench during the attack.

Stolen Kia Sportage Linked to Murder

The car believed used in the killing is a black Kia Sportage stolen from Chingford shortly before midnight on Monday, August 16, 2021. The vehicle was later found abandoned and burnt out in Walthamstow, E17, on September 3.

Police have released CCTV footage showing the Kia near Beaumont Estate just before Alex’s death. Detective Sergeant Fenton Davis from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said:

“We are appealing for anyone with information about the Kia’s movements in the days around the murder to come forward. We believe this vehicle is linked to areas including Leyton, Walthamstow, and Upper Clapton.”

Call for Witnesses as Family Seeks Justice

“Alex’s life was brutally cut short before it had even begun,” Davis added. “His devastated family deserve answers. There are people out there who know who was responsible and details about the stolen Kia’s use and destruction. I urge them to speak up.”

Police arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of murder on September 2 but later released him on bail without further action.
