A Polish man has been slammed with a nine-year jail sentence after trying to smuggle 61 guns into the UK hidden in his car.
61 Pistols Discovered at Dover
On 15 May, Border Force officers stopped Eryk Mariusz Kiler, 44, at the Port of Dover as he arrived from mainland Europe in a Renault Scenic. A thorough search revealed 61 self-loading pistols stuffed inside the vehicle.
Kiler was arrested on the spot and charged with firearms offences following this major haul.
NCA Calls It a Massive Win Against Crime
The National Crime Agency (NCA) described the seizure as a “significant haul” that could have fed organised crime gangs across the UK.
“These weapons posed a major threat to public safety. By intercepting them before they could reach criminal networks, we have prevented potential shootings and serious violence,” said an NCA spokesperson.
Crackdown Continues on Firearms Trafficking
Kiler admitted the offences and was handed a hefty nine-year prison sentence at court.
The NCA confirmed it is working closely with Border Force and international partners to keep guns off UK streets and tackle cross-border smuggling.
