Rugby Man Jailed Over £1,000 Cocaine Bust
A 20-year-old Rugby man has been locked up for more than three years after being caught with nearly 10 grams of cocaine.
Drug Deal Caught on Camera
On 10 February, officers from Rugby’s Proactive CID spotted what they suspected was a drug deal inside a local cemetery on Lower Hillmorton Road.
Pires Williams, from Winfield Street, was identified at the scene and swiftly arrested. Police seized cash and mobile phones from him on the spot.
£1,000 Worth of Cocaine Found
A search uncovered 9.48 grams of cocaine wrapped in 17 individual cling film parcels – street value around £1,000.
Williams was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
Three Years and Four Months Behind Bars
After pleading guilty, Williams was sentenced on 18 March at Coventry Crown Court to three years and four months in prison.
“We are delighted Williams is now behind bars. We know only too well the damage drugs can cause,” said DC Thomas Quinlan, lead investigator.
“We encourage the public to keep providing information on drug activity. Our team will keep working hard to stop dealers flooding the streets of Rugby.”
