Waltham Forest Police Smash Drug Ring in Major Dawn Raids
Police in Waltham Forest have smashed a major drug operation after carrying out a blitz of dawn raids linked to a six-month crackdown on drugs, violence, and anti-social behaviour.
The operation kicked off on Wednesday, 19 June, and ran over two intense days. Armed with intelligence, officers executed 37 search warrants across the borough, seizing a haul including drugs, over £6,000 in cash, a firearm with ammunition, knives, and a Taser.
9 Arrested Over Drug Supply and Violence
- Five men and four boys were snapped up on 20 June on suspicion of drug supply offences.
- On the first day, 8 men, 3 boys, and 1 woman were also arrested.
- The men have now been charged with drug-related crimes, while the woman remains under investigation.
All suspects remain in custody across east London, as more than 100 Met police officers were involved in the swoop.
Community-Backed Crackdown Sends Strong Message
“We have executed a series of warrants against a group of people who seek through their criminal behaviour to make life hard for the law-abiding majority in Waltham Forest,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Richard Tucker, North East Basic Command Unit commander.
“This activity is very much based on what the communities have asked us to do, and we will continue to confront those who involve themselves in drug dealing and the associated violence.”
Waltham Forest Council leader Councillor Clare Coghill added: “Our residents’ top priority is feeling safe in their borough. By working closely with police, public sector partners, and local groups, we’re targeting those involved in drugs and gang lifestyles. We won’t tolerate anti-social behaviour here.”
She continued, “Our residents deserve to enjoy neighbourhoods where they can thrive without fear of crime. We’re determined to make that happen. Huge thanks to the police for their dedication – it means a lot to the community.”
Police Urge Locals to Report Crime
The Met police are calling on the community to help fight drug crime and related violence. They urge anyone with information to come forward, stressing that tips could save lives.
Waltham Forest residents are urged to report serious crime and drug dealing to assist ongoing efforts to clean up the streets once and for all.
