Dublin Mum Denied Bail Over Brutal Attack on US Tourist
Sarah Dunne, 31, from Dublin, faces serious assault charges after a violent robbery on an unconscious American tourist. The mum-of-one, with no fixed address but tied to Harcourt Street, appeared before Dublin District Court today. She was handed a book of evidence and battled objections to her bail bid – but lost.
Horrific CCTV Shows Attackers Kicking Victim
Garda Eimear Redmond laid out a grim picture. Alongside two accomplices, Dunne allegedly launched a “vicious” assault on the tourist on April 27 at Oliver Bond Street, Dublin 8. CCTV reportedly shows Dunne repeatedly kicking and punching the helpless victim, inflicting a deep open wound on his forehead. The footage also captured her rifling through his pockets.
Perp Arrested Near Crime Scene; Victim Treated Then Leaves Ireland
Dunne was nabbed within 300 metres of the scene. Paramedics rushed to aid the injured tourist, who later saw a doctor before leaving Ireland.
Judge Rejects Bail Despite Defence Plea
Defending lawyer Kevin McCrave highlighted Dunne’s health issues, family ties, and role as a mother, promising she’d comply with strict bail terms. But Judge Ciaran Liddy ruled no bail for Dunne. The Director of Public Prosecutions has pushed for a high court trial with tougher sentencing powers. Dunne will stand trial in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, with a mention set for October 13.
