Paedophile Anthony Plummer Jailed for 30 Years Over Decades of Abuse
A Buckland monster who terrorised young girls for over 30 years was sentenced to a hefty 30 years in prison on Friday. Anthony Plummer, 71, finally faced justice at Portsmouth Crown Court for repeatedly abusing four girls between 1978 and 2009.
Reign of Terror Against Young Victims
Plummer’s vile crimes spanned two chilling periods: 1978-1984 and 2006-2008. The filthy predator subjected girls aged from just nine to 17 to rape, attempted rape, indecent assault, and sexual abuse.
The victims, left broken by his brutal attacks, bravely shared their heartbreak in court. One tearfully read her statement: “You had no right to take my innocence. Your actions affected my whole life. As a child I spent years blaming myself for not stopping you.”
Another declared, “I wondered why it happened. The enormity of it hit me and broke me. I thought there was something wrong with me so I didn’t say anything. I still have nightmares and think about what you did. It completely ruined my life.”
Judge Calls Plummer Dangerous, Imposes Lengthy Sentence
Judge David Melville QC condemned Plummer as a “remorseless sexual predator” who “normalised” his crimes. Warning there is “no doubting you are a dangerous person,” the judge added, “There is a risk of you misbehaving with any young girl.”
Plummer received a 30-year sentence, including a two-year extended licence. The term reflects his appalling record of offences spanning decades.

- Four counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration
- Two counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
One victim tragically died before seeing justice served. Tracy Harris, CPS Wessex senior Crown prosecutor, said, “Plummer manipulated the victims, making them too scared to speak out. We used a special legal provision to ensure he faced justice for crimes against the deceased victim.”
She paid tribute to the victims’ courage: “I hope this sentence brings them a small sense of comfort.”
