A 59-year-old paedophile has been locked up for 10 years after indecently assaulting a young girl back in the 1980s.
Andrew Wilkes Caught After Decades
Andrew Wilkes, from Gresham Avenue, Margate, preyed on his victim’s low self-esteem to carry out vile abuse. The crimes took place in Ramsgate when the girl was under 16.
Justice Served at Canterbury Crown Court
Wilkes was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault and one count of indecency with a child. The verdict came on Wednesday 19 February 2020, with sentencing following the next day.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery

“Wilkes’ offending has had a long-term impact on the victim which continues to this day. I would like to praise her bravery during the investigation and the trial. I hope the fact that Wilkes has been brought to justice will bring her some comfort.”
DC Goodey urged anyone affected by sexual abuse, past or present, to come forward, promising Kent Police will fully investigate all reports.
