Police Snag Armed Suspect in Maidstone
Back in the early hours of July 30, 2024, police grew suspicious of a vehicle heading from Brixton into Kent. Officers tracked it to Ashford Road in Maidstone and stopped two occupants, including Bryan.
On searching Bryan, cops discovered a firearm hidden inside his sock, underneath his jogging bottoms. Tests revealed it was a modified starter pistol, rigged to fire live rounds.
Police Hit Hard on Illegal Guns
Detective Constable Stuart Drakeley said: “The starter pistol Bryan had in his possession had been deliberately adapted to become a dangerous weapon and could have caused a fatal injury if used during a violent crime.”
“Bryan had no lawful reason to have it with him when he was stopped by officers, and it is right that he now is behind bars.”
“There is no place for unlicensed firearms on the streets of Kent, and our patrols will continue to target those who fail to abide by the law. Those we detain can expect a lengthy prison sentence.”
Crackdown Continues in Kent
Bryan pleaded not guilty but was convicted by a jury. His conviction highlights Kent Police’s fierce crackdown on illegal guns.
The force remains committed to ridding the streets of dangerous weapons and sending a clear message: carry an illegal firearm, and you’re going down hard.
