Explosion Rocks Hove Block of Flats – Fire Crews Tackle Blaze After Power Cuts Area
Massive Bang Shakes Residents
Firefighters from East and West Sussex rushed to a block of flats on The Drive in Hove after locals reported a loud explosion just before 7:45pm. The blast plunged the surrounding streets into darkness as power was cut off.
Fire Rips Through Basement Electrical Room
The explosion is believed to have originated in the basement’s electrical intake room. Emergency crews quickly battled the blaze to prevent it from spreading further through the building.
One Injured as Firefighters Swing Into Action
A casualty was reported and taken into the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service. An East Sussex Fire spokesperson said:
“We were called to reports of a domestic dwelling fire on The Drive, Hove at 19:44. Seven Pumps, one Ariel Ladder Platform and five Officers were in attendance. Crews used two breathing apparatus, firefighting foam and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was accidental. One casualty was reported.”
