Sadistic Killer Shaye Groves to Feature on Sky True Crime

UKNIP reveals chilling news: 27-year-old Shaye Groves, the brutal murderer from Havant, is set to be spotlighted in Sky True Crime’s “Killer In My Village” series. Produced by Avalon UK, the gripping documentary will air at 9 PM on November 14, diving into the horrifying murder, investigation, and shocking details behind Groves’ crime.

Horror in Havant: The Murder of Frankie Fitzgerald

Groves, once a resident of Botley Drive, Havant, was found guilty of stabbing 25-year-old Frankie Fitzgerald to death with a dagger found in her sink. The grim discovery came after police were called in the early hours of July 17, triggered by an ex-partner who received a disturbing video call showing Frankie’s lifeless body inside Groves’ bedroom. A post-mortem confirmed multiple stab wounds as the cause of death.

Cold and Callous on Trial

During the tense five-week trial at 1 Crown Court in February, Groves showed no emotion, even burying her head in a murder crime novel titled Find Them Dead by Peter James. Her chilling detachment did nothing to sway the jury, who convicted her, leading to a life sentence with a minimum term of 23 years handed down on February 22.

Justice Served but Grief Remains

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny said, “Shaye Groves was responsible for the shocking and sustained attack which tragically resulted in Frankie’s death. We are pleased with the jury’s verdict, and the sentence ensures Groves will spend a significant time in prison for her horrific actions.”

He sent heartfelt condolences to Frankie’s family, friends, and loved ones, adding: “No sentence can ease their loss. Their courage through this is remarkable, and justice has been served.”

DCI Kenny also stressed the police commitment to tackling domestic abuse and urged victims to speak out.

The Fitzgerald family released a heartrending statement: “As parents, you never expect to outlive your children. Frankie was our baby, the youngest of five. He was kind, beautiful, and will never be replaced. He leaves behind two children who won’t get to know their daddy. Thank you to the jury for the verdict. We love and miss you more than anything. Your light shines forever in our hearts.”

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Burton, Senior Investigating Officer, added: “This was a shocking, sustained attack that ended in Frankie’s death. We welcome the sentence and are relieved Groves will spend many years in prison for what she has done.”

DCI Burton echoed support for Frankie’s family and reaffirmed the force’s resolve to investigate domestic abuse fully and support victims courageously coming forward.
