Man Faces Court Over Shocking Child Sex Charges
A 58-year-old man from Gillingham has appeared in court accused of horrific sexual offences against boys.
Robert Wain Charged With Multiple Sex Crimes
Robert Wain, of Victoria Street, Gillingham, Kent, faced Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, 8 October. He’s charged with:
- 6 counts of rape of a male under 16
- 1 count of rape of a male aged 16 or over
- 18 counts of indecent assault on a boy under 16
- 1 count of attempted indecent assault on a boy under 16
Wain pleaded not guilty to all charges. The next hearing is set for Thursday, 19 November, at Woolwich Crown Court.
Alleged Crimes From 1990s, Six Victims Named
The allegations date back to the 1990s and concern incidents in Woolwich and Eltham. Six victims have come forward as part of the case.
Police arrested Wain first on Wednesday, 12 April, during a probe by the South East Safeguarding team. A further arrest followed on Thursday, 23 April, before charges were formally brought on 10 September.
