Youth Gang Assaults Passenger and Vandalises Car in Catherine Street
A car driving down Catherine Street was attacked at around 5.35 p.m. on Monday, May 23. Something was thrown at the vehicle, forcing the driver to stop and check the damage.
Driver Abused, Passenger Punched
The driver was verbally abused by a gang of youths. The group then closed in and assaulted the male passenger, punching him during the chaos. The car was also damaged in the fracas.
Two Teens Arrested, Both on Bail
- A 16-year-old boy was arrested on the same day, suspected of two counts of common assault, criminal damage, and cannabis offences including possession and cultivation.
- A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
Both suspects have been released on conditional bail as police continue their investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“Despite these two arrests, our investigation is very much ongoing,” said PC James Bates from the local policing team. “We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and might be able to assist.”
