Ex-Met Police Trainee Faces Corruption Charges Over Data Misuse
Former Metropolitan Police trainee Ishmael Donegan, 26, is in hot water. Once part of the North Area Basic Command Unit, he now faces four counts of misconduct in public office following a meticulous probe by the Met’s Anti-Abuse and Corruption Command.
Investigation Uncovers Police Data Misuse
The scandal began in December 2021 when suspicions arose over computer misuse and improper sharing of sensitive police information. Detectives launched a full-scale inquiry to get to the bottom of the allegations. Donegan was grilled by investigators in December 2022. By February 2023, he had quit the force.
Met Demands Top Standards From Officers
Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, in charge of policing north London, spoke out about the case. “We expect our officers to uphold the highest standards,” she said. “Allegations of wrongdoing will be thoroughly investigated. Criminal proceedings are ongoing, and I can’t comment further to avoid prejudicing the process.”
Court Date Set for September 20
Donegan isn’t the only one on the dock. Alongside him, Khabazz and Brown are also set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 20. The case is a stark reminder that no one is above the law—not even those sworn to uphold it.
