Ex-Police Call Handler Busted for Supplying Cocaine in Birmingham
Former West Midlands Police Worker Faces Drug Charges
Alisha Iftikhar, 25, a former call handler for West Midlands Police, has been charged with supplying Class A drugs. She is accused of dealing cocaine in Birmingham between 1 December 2023 and 4 June 2024. The charges come under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
Investigation Sparked by Anti-Corruption Unit
The arrest follows a probe led by West Midlands Police’s Counter Corruption Unit under the watchful eye of the Independent Office for Police Conduct’s (IOPC) Anti-Corruption Unit. The force made a mandatory referral to the IOPC in February 2024, triggering the investigation.
After the investigation concluded, the case was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service, which approved the charges against Iftikhar.
Court Date Set for April 17
Alisha Iftikhar is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 17 April. West Midlands Police have so far stayed silent, making no further comments ahead of the court hearing.
IOPC Speaks Out on Serious Allegations
“We can confirm that a former member of West Midlands Police staff is to appear in court this week charged with supplying drugs. Our Anti-Corruption Unit directed a thorough investigation following a referral from the force earlier this year. The charge reflects the seriousness of the allegations.”
Policing Integrity Under Spotlight
This case is the latest involving police personnel caught up in criminal investigations. The IOPC remains committed to transparency and upholding the highest standards of integrity, especially among staff in sensitive roles like emergency call handling.
