Two ‘Dangerous Offenders’ Locked Up for Brutal Brixton Robbery
Two thugs have been slammed behind bars for eight years each after a vicious attack in Brixton. Jaydan Dugdale, 20, from Watford, and Paul Thomas, 20, from Walthamstow, were convicted of robbery at Inner London Crown Court on Tuesday, 29 September.
Brutal Assault in Raeburn Street
The pair, alongside a third man still at large, set upon a man in his late 20s at around 2:15am on Saturday, 7 September 2019. The victim was punched and kicked repeatedly in the chest and face over several minutes before the attackers made off with his phone and wallet.
The victim suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken cheekbone that needed surgery. Neighbours called police after hearing the attack.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrests
Officers caught Dugdale nearby thanks to his distinctive red trainers, spotted by witnesses during the assault. Thomas was arrested on Raeburn Street shortly after. Both were charged with robbery, with Dugdale also hit with a possession charge for cannabis.
They first appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court in September 2019.
Detective Slams ‘Cowardly’ Attackers
“This was a cowardly, unprovoked attack on the victim, who was outnumbered and unfortunate enough to cross paths with Dugdale and Thomas, who were clearly looking for trouble that night,” said Detective Constable Aisha Grainger.
“It was only down to luck that the victim was not more seriously injured. The judge recognised the severity of this attack in handing down these strong jail sentences, classing them both as dangerous offenders.”
After their release, Dugdale and Thomas will each spend an extra two years on licence. The hunt continues for the third man involved in this savage robbery.
