150 Evacuated After Crack Sparks Safety Fears at NW1 Tower
Alarming Crack Found on Ninth Floor
About 150 residents were rushed from The Combe block in Munster Square, NW1, after a crack appeared on the building’s ninth floor. A loud noise reported by a tenant triggered the London Fire Brigade’s rapid response.
Engineers were called in, and as a precaution, everyone was evacuated from the 70-flat tower. Those without a place to stay were directed to a rest centre organised by Camden Council.
Camden Council Confirms Emergency Response
“We were alerted earlier today to a structural issue at The Combe block where part of a wall developed a crack on the ninth floor. As a result, the London Fire Brigade took the decision to evacuate,” said a Camden Council spokesman.
Council officials are working closely with emergency services to check the building’s safety and plan next steps.
Support & Shelter for Displaced Residents
Camden Council is providing support at the local rest centre and looking into longer-term housing solutions for those affected. Residents are urged to stay patient and follow official advice.
Investigation and Repairs Underway
Structural engineers and safety teams remain on site, assessing the damage and determining how best to carry out repairs. Camden Council will keep residents updated as the situation develops.
Residents should keep an eye on official channels and heed emergency guidance.
