Police Hunt Handbag Thief Who Targeted Elderly Woman in Sutton-in-Ashfield
A cruel thief snatched a 66-year-old woman’s handbag as she walked home through a dark alley in Sutton-in-Ashfield. Police have now released an image of the man they want to track down.
Robbery Caught on Camera
The shocking robbery happened at about 2.15pm on January 2nd on Forest Road. The victim had just left Skegby Mini Market when a stranger followed her. As she turned into an alleyway by Beechwood Court, the thief yanked the handbag from her shoulders and sprinted off towards Beechwood Close.
Detective Pleads for Public’s Help
“This is an extremely serious incident, and it is imperative that we catch the suspect for this robbery,” said Detective Constable Lisa Shields.
She added: “We believe the man deliberately stalked the victim before forcefully snatching her bag in an alleyway where no one else was around. The incident left the woman extremely shaken. We have done a thorough investigation but now need the public’s help.
“We have released images of a man we want to trace. If you recognise him, or it’s you, contact us immediately.”
