Police Nab Driver on Expired Licence With No Insurance
An intelligence-led police stop has caught a man behind the wheel with an expired provisional licence and no insurance. Officers acting on a tip-off pulled the driver during a routine patrol, suspecting he might be breaking the law.
Driver Claims He Was ‘Just Test Driving’—But Police Aren’t Buying It
When questioned, the man said he was “just test driving it around the block.” Police dismissed the excuse and swiftly took action.
Vehicle Seized and Driver Reported for Multiple Offences
The vehicle was immediately seized. The driver now faces reports for several traffic violations, including:
- Driving without insurance
- Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
- Operating a vehicle on a public road without supervision or L-plates
“This kind of behaviour puts lives at risk. Driving without a licence or insurance is not just illegal—it’s reckless. Intelligence-led policing plays a vital role in keeping our roads safe,” said a police spokesperson.
Strict Warning on Unlicensed and Uninsured Driving
Motorists are reminded that driving without a valid licence and insurance can lead to six penalty points, hefty fines, vehicle seizure, and even court prosecution.
“‘Test driving’ a car on public roads without proper documentation is not a valid excuse. Police will continue to take swift action to tackle uninsured and unlicensed driving,” the spokesperson added.
