Tragic Blaze at Regent’s Park Care Home Claims Life
Firefighters were called to a devastating fire just yards from London’s Regent’s Park early on Thursday 5th January. The blaze broke out at Esther Randall Court, an assisted living complex for over-55s, housing 35 self-contained one-bedroom flats.
Despite frantic efforts from fire crews and paramedics, one person tragically died after being rushed to hospital. Four residents were rescued from the flames, while two others were taken to hospital with injuries.
Emergency Services Race to Scene
Police received the distress call just after 7.25am and scrambled London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance to the scene on Little Albany Street.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 7.25am on Thursday, 5 January to reports of a fire at Little Albany Street, NW1. Officers, London Fire Brigade, London’s Air Ambulance, and London Ambulance Service attended.”
They added: “The address is a multi-occupancy care facility. A number of residents were evacuated. Two people were taken to hospital by ambulance. We await updates on their conditions. There were no arrests.”

The cause of the fire is still unknown as authorities launch an investigation. The quiet neighbourhood remains shaken by the tragic incident, which serves as a grim reminder of fire risks in care homes.
Emergency crews praised the swift evacuation which undoubtedly saved lives, but questions remain over what sparked the deadly blaze.
