Between 23 October and 21 November 2023, thieves hit Boots the Chemist in The Pentagon Centre, Chatham, not once but three times, making off with electric shaving gear worth over £320. Meanwhile, booze bandits tried to nick bottles from Asda in Gravesend and Sainsbury’s in Chatham—property value over £100.
Atik Jabarkhel Busted and Banged Up
Atik Jabarkhel, 32, homeless and on the run, was caught on 21 November. Charged with five counts of theft by Medway Victim Based Crime Team, the suspect pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 22 November. The result? A 14-week stretch behind bars.
Shoplifters Face Tough Justice in Medway
This comes hot on the heels of Gabriella Tokorova’s sentencing. The 24-year-old, guilty of seven thefts in Chatham and Gravesend, was locked up for 56 days on 13 November. Other offenders have been slapped with strict community behaviour orders, restricting their freedom and threatening arrest if they step out of line.

“Theft from shops is not a victimless crime and hits small businesses hard,” said District Commander for Gravesham, Chief Inspector Will Lay. “Our patrols are on the lookout for repeat offenders, especially as we head into the busy festive season.”
