Paedophile Jailed for Hiding Online Profiles from Authorities
Repeat Offender Snared Using Encrypted App
Allen Wilton, 49, from St Johns Wood Road, Ryde, has been locked up for 16 months after flouting Sex Offenders Register rules. He failed to declare the online aliases he used, including ‘falcon1’ on the encrypted chat app Wickr Me.
Defied Police Demands Over Password
Police found out about Wilton’s secret account during their investigation. When arrested at his home on 2 October, he refused to hand over his Wickr Me password, sparking further suspicion.
Court Punishes Wilton for Ignoring the Law
At Isle of Wight Crown Court on 1 November, Wilton was sentenced to 16 months behind bars. PC Michelle Walton hit out, saying: “Wilton is a repeat child sex offender with a history dating back to 2002.”
“He had absolutely no regard for what he was required to do, by law, so we could ensure that he would not continue to offend and that we were protected. We simply do not tolerate this, and I am pleased that today’s jail sentence reflects this.”
