Ramsgate rampage: Knife attack, car crash and charges for Kevin Jones
A 29-year-old man from Ramsgate sparked terror after stabbing two women, then crashing a stolen car into a house and attacking a neighbour and a paramedic. Kevin Jones of Bradley Road has been jailed for 40 months following the violent spree on December 27, 2017.
Knife assault sparks chaos
The chaos began after a dispute inside a home, where Jones – under the influence of drugs and alcohol – lashed out with a kitchen knife. Two women tried to defend themselves but suffered cuts to their arms needing paramedic treatment.
Car joyride turns violent
Jones then stole a vehicle and went on a dangerous joyride around Newington Road. He mounted the pavement, narrowly missing two pedestrians, before smashing a fence and tree. He reversed his car three times into a house wall, causing major damage.
A neighbour tried to stop him but was kicked and bruised. When the car lurched forward, it knocked down the same neighbour. A paramedic who arrived to help was punched in the face during the chaos.
Justice served at Canterbury Crown Court
Kent Police quickly arrested Jones, who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, two counts of wounding, and two counts of assault. Judge sentenced him to 40 months in prison and handed a driving ban, requiring him to re-take his driving test before regaining any licence.
“Jones has shown he is an aggressive and temperamental individual who put many lives at risk during his rampage,” said PC Benjamin Clacy. “He could have caused serious injuries to several people who were in the house he collided with. He even attacked a paramedic who was trying to prevent further harm.
I hope this sentence reassures the public that we will not tolerate such acts of violence and will do everything within our power to ensure incidents like this are fully investigated and that the perpetrators are convicted.”
