Medway Police Nab 58 in Month-Long Crime Crackdown
Medway’s Community Safety Unit has smashed crime with 58 arrests in just one month. Officers also recovered seven knives, executed eight search warrants, and seized a haul of drugs including suspected cocaine and heroin.
Knife Attack Suspect Locked Up
On June 16, police responded to a stabbing on Railway Street, Gillingham, at 11:17 a.m. They arrested 18-year-old Ahmed Moborat from Byron Road later that day. He faces charges of wounding and carrying a knife in public. The weapon was recovered and Moborat has been remanded in custody. He’s due in Maidstone Crown Court on August 16.
Violent Offenders Brought to Justice
- Charlie Lindley, 22: Charged with grievous bodily harm and assault by beating after an incident on Robin Place, Chatham. He’s bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on August 4.
- Two men, 19 and 21: Arrested after an assault and robbery on Seaton Road, Gillingham on June 26. Both bailed, next due at Medway Police Station on September 1.
- Sonny Whiting, 34; Charlie Beaney, 20; Jerry Devlin, 24: Arrested after a fight in The Fairway, Rochester on June 23. Charged with grievous bodily harm, violent disorder, and possession of offensive weapons. Whiting and Beaney are out on bail; Devlin remains in custody. All due back at Maidstone Crown Court on December 12.
- David Devlin, 57: Charged with property damage threats, set for Medway Magistrates’ Court on August 3.
