Jailed After Threatening Multiple Bus Passengers With A Meat Cleaver And Producing A Knife In The Street

Bus Terror: Man Wields Meat Cleaver in Daylight Rampage

A 32-year-old man has landed six years behind bars after terrorising bus passengers with a meat cleaver and brandishing a knife in the street.

Marcus Cork’s Daytime Mayhem

Marcus Cork, from Northgate, Hunstanton, was sentenced at Kings Lynn Crown Court on Tuesday 14 March 2023. The judge deemed him ‘dangerous’ — a label that sealed his hefty sentence. Cork must serve at least four years before he can even apply for parole.

Cork pled guilty to three counts of robbery, possession of a knife, threatening someone with a knife, and criminal damage.

Violent Rampage on the Bus

On the afternoon of 13 October 2022, Cork boarded an Excel bus at Norwich Bus Station heading to Kings Lynn. Once on the upper deck, he threatened a woman with a meat cleaver and stole her phone. He then tried to snatch a wallet from another female passenger.

He also threatened the bus driver with the cleaver, attempting to steal cash—walking away with only a bag of sweets. Cork smashed the bus door, damaging its frame, before fleeing at Newmarket Road when the driver stopped the vehicle.

Street Attack and CCTV Evidence

Shortly after, Cork confronted a group of young women, punching one in the neck and stealing her phone. When they chased him, Cork brandished a knife in the street.

These attacks, along with a linked attempted robbery, were all caught on bus CCTV and mobile phones. Cork refused to explain his actions, claiming “no comment” in police interviews.

PC Faris Shah, leading the investigation, slammed Cork’s reckless violence. He said:

“Cork caused multiple members of the public to fear for their safety and suffer loss or damage to property with no regards for his actions. Aggravating the impact was the fact the incidents took place in the day and were witnessed by young children causing distress.”
