Father Stabbed to Death at Ryde Home – Woman Held in Custody
A woman remains in police custody after the fatal stabbing of Ryde father Jolyon Wray. The 53-year-old victim was brutally attacked with a bread knife, which pierced his chest.
Neighbour Hears Terrifying Screams
Detectives revealed that police were called to the East Hill Road property in Ryde shortly after 4.30pm on Monday. A neighbour heard chilling screams coming from the basement flat, sparking immediate concern.
Multiple 999 calls were made from the property before officers traced the calls back to the woman, who confessed to stabbing her partner. Armed police rushed to the scene, finding Jolyon, known as Jo to his friends, lying dead on a blood-soaked sofa.
Murder Investigation Underway
Police launched a murder investigation and detained the 53-year-old woman at the property. She is currently being questioned by Major Crime detectives as inquiries continue.
Inquest Adjourned to December
Caroline Sumeray, the Isle of Wight coroner, opened the inquest today but has adjourned it until December 13 as investigations carry on.
