Passenger Stabbed After Crazy ‘Game of Chicken’ Crash in Kent
A driver has spoken exclusively of his terror after a violent ordeal on a quiet Herne Bay street. His friend, sitting in the passenger seat of his BMW, was stabbed and seriously injured by three men following a reckless game of chicken on Stanley Road.
Morning Chaos on Stanley Road
The shocking incident happened just after 7am on Tuesday, 3 May 2022. The driver says a white car suddenly sped towards them as if daring them to crash. The other car rammed a tree stump, flipped onto its side, and smashed into the BMW.
“Two men jumped out after hitting the tree stump and sprinted across a junction,” the driver explained. “A third guy stumbled out, pulled a knife, and stabbed my pal when he chased after them. There was blood everywhere – he was bleeding badly.”
The terrified driver added: “I’m still baffled why this happened here. I’ve lived here for ten years and kept to myself. You’d expect this in Hackney, not quiet Herne Bay.”
Police Hunt Trio Who Fled Scene
Emergency services arrived within minutes. The injured man was rushed to a London hospital with stab wounds. Kent Police and crime scene officers are combing Stanley Road and have set up a secondary cordon on nearby Douglas Road.
A spokesman said: “Officers were called at 7.05am after reports of a two-car collision followed by an assault. An investigation is ongoing and part of Stanley Road remains closed.”
Witnesses or anyone with info should call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 03-0150.
Local Residents on Edge
The early-morning crash could have been much worse, with kids often walking to school along Stanley Road. The driver said: “It’s a miracle no one else was hurt. It’s left the whole community shaken.”
