Serial Killer Levi Bellfield Confesses to Chilling Chillenden Murders
Michael Stone is behind bars, serving three life sentences for the brutal murders of Lin Russell and her six-year-old daughter Megan in Chillenden, Kent, in July 1996. Stone has always claimed he is innocent.
Now, shockwaves have hit the case. Serial killer Levi Bellfield’s lawyer has revealed that Bellfield has signed a fresh confession admitting to the chilling murders of Lin Russell and Megan.
Bellfield’s New Confession Rocks Murder Case
- Bellfield, already serving two life sentences for killing three young women including Milly Dowler, reportedly confessed after working with prison psychiatrists.
- His lawyer, Theresa Clark, said: “My client says, ‘I did it, and I need to accept responsibility for what I did.'”
- According to Stone’s lawyer, Paul Bacon, Bellfield’s admission “must have taken some courage and considerable soul-searching.”
The confession has been passed to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) for further scrutiny. Kent Police maintain their stance that Stone’s conviction remains sound.
Bellfield’s Grim Crime Spree
Bellfield is infamous for his savage murders of:
- Marsha McDonnell, 19, in 2003
- Amelie Delagrange, 22, in 2004
- Attempted murder of 18-year-old Kate Sheedy in 2004
- Milly Dowler, 13, abducted and killed in 2002
He was already serving time when convicted of Milly Dowler’s murder after a 2011 Old Bailey trial.
Calls for Fresh Police Investigation
Bellfield hopes his confession “will hopefully bring closure to the families involved.” He urges police to reopen the Chillenden case and investigate thoroughly.
Ex-Met Police investigator Colin Sutton, who caught Bellfield for Milly Dowler’s murder, is revisiting other cold cases, including the killing of billionaire author Allan Chappelow.
Bellfield’s jail wedding request sparked outrage from Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was “sickened and outraged” by the proposal — proving the vile nature of the killer remains a public concern.
