Major London drug gang smashed! Ringleader Mohammed Abdul Bakye has been slapped with a hefty 15-year jail sentence for running a ruthless crack cocaine and heroin operation across the capital.
Cracking Down on Crime
The City of London Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team (SOCT) uncovered over £45,000 worth of Class A drugs alongside a shotgun, ammo, and a firearm silencer during a major bust in mid-2023.
Boss Exploited Vulnerable Kids for Drug Dealing
- Mohammed Abdul Bakye, from Alfred Court, Bombay Street, Bermondsey, controlled the gang from May 2022 to August 2023.
- He exploited children and vulnerable people to push crack cocaine and heroin on London streets.
- Bakye was found guilty of conspiracy to supply drugs and possession of a prohibited firearm without a licence.
- Along with his jail time, he’s now slapped with a Serious Crime Prevention Order to curb his activities post-release.
Police Smash Stash Houses
The key raid on August 6 located a locked digital safe stuffed with pre-packaged drugs – crack cocaine, heroin, and MDMA – worth a whopping £36,355.
- Also found: a shotgun, live ammo, and a silencer for another weapon.
- A subsequent warrant in Dagenham led to Bakye’s arrest and the seizure of two phones linked to the drug network.

Top Cop’s Take
“This lengthy probe has smashed a violent, exploitive organised crime group and kept tens of thousands of pounds’ worth of the most dangerous drugs off London’s streets,” said Detective Constable Jared Fortune.
“Bakye’s gang cynically used children and vulnerable people to sell crack and heroin. The sentences today should send a clear warning: we will relentlessly hunt down and shut down drug crime.”
Biggest Crack & Heroin Gang Taken Down Since SOCT Began
This crackdown marks one of the largest disruptions of crack cocaine and heroin networks in the City of London since SOCT’s formation in 2022. The operation not only removed harmful substances but also struck a major blow against the violence and exploitation tied to the gang.
More sentences are expected for the remaining members as justice continues to roll in.
