Father and Son Busted with £500k and Class A Drugs in Everton

A 39-year-old man and his 63-year-old dad have been slammed behind bars after police uncovered over £500,000 in cash and Class A drugs at their Everton home.

Dean Quinney Jailed for Over 10 Years

Dean Quinney, from Pete Best Drive, Liverpool, was arrested on Sunday 5th September 2021. He later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine. Today, Thursday 21st December, Liverpool Crown Court sentenced him to 10 years and four months.

Dad David Quinney Also Locked Up

David Quinney, 63, of Boundary Street East, Liverpool, was found guilty of concealing and possessing criminal property. He received a four-year prison sentence at an earlier trial.

Encrochat Sting Cracks Major Drug Operation

The Quinney duo are the latest to fall in Merseyside’s crackdown under Operation Venetic — a global mission targeting criminals using encrypted mobile phones to dodge police.

Dean operated under the Encrochat alias “Livelyknee” and posed as director of Liverpool blind company PSD Shutters. He smuggled huge loads of cocaine across Merseyside, using disguised vehicles as cover. At one point, his haul of drugs and cash hit a staggering £1.3 million.

He boasted in messages about stashing cash “under floorboards, behind walls and everywhere.” Police seized £554,760 in cash from David’s Boundary Street East address during a warrant.

Officers also uncovered photos from Encrochat showing piles of cash spread out on a carpet and a kilo of cocaine ready to move.

Top Cop Vows to Stamp Out Drug Crime

Detective Inspector Peter McCullough said: “Quinney used several covert tactics to store and transport drugs and hundreds of thousands of pounds using a business, vehicles and different addresses.

“His sentencing proves crime does not pay, and we will tirelessly make sure those profiting from illegal drugs get lengthy jail terms.”

“Despite more people being jailed for these crimes, our work continues with law enforcement worldwide. Serious organised crime is no lifestyle choice — and we will target anyone involved to keep our streets, businesses and communities safe.”
