Shocking Ramsgate Attack Rocks Community

A gruesome assault involving a corrosive substance has shaken Ramsgate. The terrifying incident happened around 8:20pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024, when a victim was targeted just after entering St. Laurence Graveyard, off Manston Road.

The attacker doused the victim with an unidentified noxious liquid, causing serious burns. The victim was rushed to hospital and thankfully has now been discharged – but the trauma lingers.

Suspect Arrested as Police Push Investigation

Police made a breakthrough on Tuesday, February 20, arresting a 22-year-old Ramsgate man on suspicion of assault. He has been bailed while inquiries continue.

Witness Appeal: Have You Seen This Man?

Detectives are hunting a key witness who left the churchyard around 9pm on the night of the attack. He is described as:

  • White male, mid to late 20s
  • Short dark hair, glasses
  • Wearing blue jeans, a black hooded coat, and black headphones

While not a suspect, police believe he could hold crucial information. Officers urge anyone who saw the man or knows anything about the attack to speak up.
