Man Attacked and Slashed with a knife in Southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted during an attempted robbery in Southampton. Between 1.45am and 2am on Saturday, December 31, the 30-year-old victim was walking on Northam Bridge, Northam Road, in the direction of The King Albert pub with a 23-year-old woman when he was approached by an unknown man. The man threatened the victim with an object, thought to be a knife, before an altercation took place. During the altercation, the victim suffered a small injury to his arm. The man then left the scene with a woman in the direction of Northam estate. He has been described as white, aged in his early 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall, skinny and gaunt looking, and was described as wearing a light, thigh-length puffa jacket. The woman he was with has been described as white, skinny, 5ft 6ins tall, with dark hair. She was described as wearing a black hooded top and skinny blue jeans. Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw two people matching this description acting suspiciously in the area at this time.
