Man Charged After Brutal Burglary Leaves Brighton Victims Seriously Injured
Violent Home Invasion Shakes Brighton
Detectives in Brighton have charged a 46-year-old man following a savage aggravated burglary that left three people badly hurt. Lee Witts, from Newtonhill in Aberdeenshire, faces multiple charges including aggravated burglary, robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent, and actual bodily harm after the shocking March 5 attack.
Attack Details: Broken Bones and Knocked Unconscious
The terrifying incident unfolded at a house in Lower Bevendean Avenue at around 6.25pm, when Witts and another man forced their way inside. Two men and a woman inside the property suffered violent assaults. Injuries ranged from broken bones to one victim being knocked unconscious. The female victim also had her purse and mobile phone stolen during the raid.
Swift Police Action Nets Two Suspects
One victim managed to flee to a nearby convenience store to alert police. Officers quickly launched an investigation and arrested Witts 12 hours later. He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on March 8 and was remanded in custody ahead of an April 5 hearing. The second suspect, a 25-year-old Brighton man, was arrested the following day and remains in custody.
Investigation Ongoing, Police Praise Victims
“This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims, who all suffered serious physical and emotional trauma from what was a sustained assault,” said Detective Sergeant Rob Lewis.
“I would like to thank them for their support in helping to identify and arrest two suspects within such a short space of time. We are pleased to have been able to bring charges in this instance and await the outcome of court proceedings.”
