Big Bust on Friary Park Estate: Guns, Drugs and Cash Seized
Operation Mansion hit the Friary Park Estate hard in a major crackdown on drug dealers. The West Area Proactive team, backed by TSG and other units, launched a precision strike after local residents and community groups raised the alarm.
Four Warrants, Five Arrests
On 21 August 2018, officers executed four warrants across the estate. The haul was staggering: a stash of Class A drugs, piles of cash, ammunition, and three firearms were seized. Here’s what they found:
- Shortened side-by-side 12 Bore shotgun
- Quantity of 12 Bore shotgun cartridges
- Converted blank firing pistol
- “Glock” style pistol magazine with one 9mm cartridge
- Loaded “Glock 19” pistol in 9mm calibre
- Four 9mm cartridges, at least three live
Five Nabbed, One Charged
Five suspects were arrested during the swoop. By 24 August, a 20-year-old man was charged with four firearms offences. The other four suspects were released pending further investigation.

Local residents voiced their relief as the operation targeted the crime damaging their neighbourhood. With dangerous weapons off the streets, Friary Park Estate takes a step towards safer streets.
