Robbery Shakes St Leonards Bookmakers

Police have charged a man after a brazen robbery at Coral bookmakers on Battle Road, St Leonards. On Monday 2 January, just before 10.30am, a 56-year-old man stormed into the shop and demanded cash from staff. He escaped with a haul of money, but luckily, no-one was hurt.

Sussex Police revealed the suspect, Kenneth Brown of Marline Road, St Leonards, was nabbed and charged not only with robbery but also with theft. The theft involved an elderly woman’s purse, snatched on 15 December outside the Co-op on London Road.

Remanded and Facing Court

Brown appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 9 January, where he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Lewes Crown Court on Monday 6 February.
