Hit-and-Run Horror: Cyclist Left Fighting for Life After Red-Light Smash

A heartless driver mowed down a cyclist at a red light in Camden before fleeing the scene and trying to bury the truth. Angelo Kaminski, 28, of no fixed address, has now been convicted for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and attempting to pervert justice.

Family Feud: Kin Collude to Cover Crime

But Angelo wasn’t acting alone. His father Grzegorz, 47, brother Patryk, 21, and cousin Adrian, 26, all pleaded guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. The family hatched a wild scheme to pin the blame on a stolen car.

Night of Nightmare Crash

  • On 10 January 2018, Angelo Kaminski drove a black Renault Megane through a red light at Camden Road and Royal College Road junction.
  • He smashed into 37-year-old cyclist Abdul Hadi, who had the green light.
  • Kaminski sped off, hitting another red light before abandoning the damaged car less than 1km away.
  • Abdul Hadi suffered a skull fracture, brain bleed, and fractured pelvis and went into a coma for 18 months before sadly dying in July 2019.

Family Cover-Up Crumbles

Adrian picked Angelo up and drove to Stansted Airport. They collected Grzegorz and Patryk, who’d flown in from Poland. Together, they reported the Renault stolen to police, spinning a fake tale of searching for it.

But a local spotted the abandoned wreck and tipped off cops. Forensic evidence linked Angelo straight to the crash.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Frost said: “Angelo Kaminski drove through a red light and struck Abdul Hadi, leaving him with catastrophic injuries. Instead of stopping, he fled and, with his family’s help, tried to cover it up. I thank the Hadi family for their strength during this tragic case.”

All four are due for sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court on 14 February.
