Loaded Gun Haul Lands Man Behind Bars After London NYE Party
A man was jailed nearly seven years after turning a New Year’s Eve party in NW3 into a firearms showdown.
Party Crashed by Armed Police
Ruan Mota, 24, from Ladbroke Grove, turned up at a packed bash on January 1st carrying a loaded revolver and ammo. The party, held at a large residential property on Trinity Close, was attended by around 100 people.
Police got wind of the firearm and sent firearms officers to the scene. When cops tried to question Mota outside, he tried to make a run for it—only to be tasered and quickly arrested.
Loaded Gun and Ammo Seized
Officers found two rounds on Mota and later uncovered a loaded revolver just yards away. Forensic analysis confirmed the bullets in the gun and Mota’s ammo matched perfectly.
Mota was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition.
Justice Served at Wood Green Crown Court
On May 4, Mota pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court. The judge sentenced him to six years and 11 months in prison.
Detective Constable Jonny Wise said: “Ruan Mota is a dangerous criminal who was in possession of a loaded firearm on the streets of London.“The Met and Operation Trident are committed to tackling gun crime in the capital and removing lethal weapons from our streets.“I am pleased that the sentence handed down today reflects the gravity of the offence.”
