Man Jailed for Six Years After Knife Horror at Southampton Common
A Southampton man has been locked up for six years following a terrifying knife incident near the Cowherds pub on Southampton Common.
Knife Threat Sparks Panic
On Thursday 13 December, police rushed to the scene just after 4.20pm after reports of a man brandishing a knife and threatening passersby. Officers had to deploy a Taser to bring the suspect under control.
Three Injured in Shocking Attack
Three members of the public were hurt in the chaos: a 17-year-old boy, an 18-year-old woman, and a 50-year-old man. Thankfully, none suffered serious injuries.
Convicted offender Nabil Errouam behind bars
Nabil Errouam, 35, from Oxford Avenue, Southampton, pleaded guilty on 28 January to multiple charges, including kidnap, affray, possession and threatening with a bladed article, and two counts of wounding.
Southampton Crown Court sentenced him on 5 April to a total of six years in prison.
Detective Inspector Colin White said: “This was a frightening experience for the three victims and it was fortunate that they were not seriously hurt. I am grateful to the members of the public who witnessed this incident and supported our investigation. I would also like to thank the officers who attended the scene that night and detained Errouam.”
