Man Jailed for Sex Assault on Schoolgirl in Folkestone
Rapid Arrest After Shocking Attack
A 21-year-old man has been locked up for two years after sexually assaulting a schoolgirl in broad daylight in Folkestone.
Callum Maycock approached the young victim near Foord Road on the morning of Thursday, 27 June 2024. He made lewd comments before touching her inappropriately. The brave girl escaped and reported the ordeal to police immediately.
Officers acted fast. The very next day, patrols spotted Maycock matching the victim’s description. He was arrested within 24 hours and later pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
Harsh Sentence Handed Down at Canterbury Crown Court
At Canterbury Crown Court on Friday, 15 November, Maycock — previously of Foord Road South — was sentenced to:
- Two years in prison
- A 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order
- A 10-year restraining order
Police Praise Victim and Pledge Protection
Detective Sergeant David Hinwood commended the victim for her bravery and highlighted the police’s swift action.
“Protecting women and girls is an absolute priority for Kent Police. We will relentlessly pursue anyone who poses them harm. The quick police response led to the offender being caught and brought to justice.”
He added, “I would like to praise the victim and her family for their help during the investigation. I hope these court orders keep the public safe moving forward.”
