Stalker Jailed for Filming and Following Women Night and Day
Shekhem Manning-Egeonwon, 20, from Sturgess Avenue NW4, has been locked up for 32 months at Harrow Crown Court. He received concurrent sentences for stalking multiple victims. The court also slapped him with a restraining order.
Caught Red-Handed on CCTV
The suspect initially pleaded not guilty back in January. However, during the trial, CCTV footage from his phone exposed his creepy behaviour, leading him to change his plea. The videos showed him trailing women relentlessly.
Five Months of Fear for Victims
In September 2023, police launched an investigation after a woman in her 30s reported being followed while taking her child to school in Barnet. Manning-Egeonwon had been stalking her for five months.
The Met’s North West Command stepped in, shadowing the victim on her school run to catch him. Although he evaded arrest at first, the victim bravely agreed to alert officers if she spotted him again. When he reappeared, she called the police, and officers swiftly detained Manning-Egeonwon on suspicion of stalking.
More Victims and Shocking Evidence
During his arrest, a woman in her 40s also came forward, claiming she was another target of his relentless following. Police recovered over 100 videos from his phone. These recordings captured not just the two known victims but several other women being stalked—sometimes filmed through their windows, both day and night.
Detective Constable Jas Brar said: “The scale of offending in this case was extreme. Manning-Egeonwon stalked women day and night, sometimes approaching them or knocking on their doors. His actions were menacing and intrusive, causing extreme distress. It’s outrageous that anyone should feel unsafe leaving their home because of this kind of harassment.”
“I thank the victims for their courage in supporting the investigation. Hopefully, they can now move forward knowing Manning-Egeonwon is behind bars and can no longer roam the streets.”
