Swindon Man Locked Up for 10 Years Over Shocking Sleep-Time Rape
Carl Wallis, 38, from Brookdene, Swindon, has been sentenced to 10-and-a-half years behind bars for a disturbing non-recent rape. The verdict came down today (23/02) at Swindon Crown Court after a gruelling three-day trial last December.
Lifetime Sex Offender Registration and Restraining Order
Besides his decade-long prison stretch, Wallis must also register as a sex offender for life. On top of that, a restraining order has been slapped on him to protect the victim.
Horrific Assault Exposed Six Years Later
The crime dates back to 2016 when Wallis abused his victim while she was unconscious. The nightmare only surfaced six years later after the victim stumbled upon shocking video footage and photos on a mobile phone. She described feeling “dirty, humiliated, and unable to escape the trauma” in her Victim’s Personal Statement.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Urge Others to Speak Out
Detective Constable Anna McCormack, who led the probe, hailed the victim’s bravery for coming forward with vital evidence. She stressed the importance of reporting sexual assaults and reassured victims of full support from police and partner organisations.
“Don’t suffer in silence,” McCormack warned. “Help is available from trained officers and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs). Your information could bring offenders to justice and protect others.”
