Driver Jailed for Crushing Road Worker on Theale Bypass
Frank Nyantakyi Sentenced to Over 3 Years
Frank Nyantakyi, 34, from Maiden Place, Reading, has been slammed with a three-year and three-month prison sentence at Reading Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by reckless driving back in May.
Serious Injuries After Shocking Crash
On May 6, 2021, Nyantakyi was driving his silver Volkswagen Golf in a closed lane on the A4 Theale bypass around 9.55pm when he hit a road worker in his fifties. The victim suffered five broken bones in his legs, along with severe muscle and tissue damage.
Driving Ban and Tough Retest to Follow
Nyantakyi has also been banned from the roads for five years, with a further extension of two years and two months. When his driving ban ends, he must pass an extended driving test before he can get his licence back.
“This was a tragic incident in which a man suffered serious, life-changing injuries,” said Detective Constable Joy Jarvis of the Joint Operations Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “As a result of his appalling driving, Nyantakyi will now have to serve a prison sentence.”
Thames Valley Police have vowed to continue cracking down on dangerous drivers. They said they will never tolerate such reckless behaviour and will always seek to prosecute offenders.
