Man jailed for nearly two years after terrifying assault and strangulation in Marlborough

Samuel Norris, 29, from Garrick Road, Bath, was locked up for 20 months at Swindon Crown Court on December 20. He pleaded guilty to three counts of assault and one count of intentional strangulation, all committed on June 19 last summer.

Besides the prison sentence, Norris was slapped with £187 in court costs.

Brutal attack witnessed by children

Local Crime Investigator Ms O’Harney said: “This was a prolonged and frightening assault taking place in front of small children. Violence Against Women and Girls is a top priority for Wiltshire Police and we hope this 20-month custodial sentence sends a strong message to perpetrators. I hope that the victim in this case feels a sense of justice for what they went through. I also hope that this encourages more victims to come forward and report domestic abuse.”
