Thug Jailed for Brutal Assault on Ex with Baseball Bat
Tyler Thornhill, 24, from Henbury, Bristol, has been slammed with a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for viciously attacking his ex-partner in Warminster. The brute also caused criminal damage during the ordeal.
Baseball Bat Attack on Valentine’s Day
The shocking assault took place on February 14, 2023. Thornhill stormed into his ex’s home wielding a baseball bat. He grabbed her by the throat and seized some of her belongings before police arrested him.
At Salisbury Crown Court on April 29, Thornhill admitted to two counts of Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) and two counts of criminal damage.
Victim Reveals Terror and Fear
I constantly check multiple times through the night that doors are locked, curtains are shut, lights are off, and even go as far as sellotaping the letterbox in fear that he would set fire to my house whilst I was asleep,” the victim said in a court statement.
“I never thought I would find the courage to report the abuse simply because I was too scared to find out the repercussions.”
As part of his punishment, Thornhill must pay a £228 surcharge and faces a 10-year restraining order to keep him away from the victim.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery and Urge Others to Speak Out
Suzanne Stone, a local crime investigator, condemned Thornhill’s violent actions. She praised the victim’s courage for stepping forward and welcomed the tough sentence handed down.
“I hope the victim can now finally start to feel safe and begin to move forward with their life,” Stone said.
She added: “Anyone suffering abuse should seek help. We urge all victims to come forward – all reports will be taken seriously and handled sensitively.”
