Violent assault near fire station
A man was left with a broken jaw after a brutal attack involving a beer bottle on Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood. The nasty incident happened around 11 PM on Monday, November 25, 2024, close to the town’s fire station. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and the victim was whisked away by ambulance to a local hospital for urgent treatment.
Suspect nabbed and charged
Two days later, on Wednesday, November 27, 25-year-old Nathan Murphy, a man with no fixed address, was arrested over the nasty assault. He now faces serious charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Murphy appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 28, where he was remanded in custody. His next hearing is set for Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Maidstone Crown Court.
Police issue urgent witness appeal
Kent Police are desperate for witnesses to come forward. They want anyone who saw the attack or has CCTV or doorbell camera footage to get in touch. A Kent Police spokesperson urged:
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time. Any information, no matter how small, could assist our investigation.”
