Met Police Sergeant Sacked for Racist Rant in Pub

Off-Duty Racism Costs Sgt Paul Robinson His Job

A Metropolitan Police sergeant has been booted out after a shocking misconduct hearing on Thursday, 15 October. Sgt Paul Robinson, a member of Met Detention, was found guilty of discreditable conduct – all stemming from a drunken, off-duty outburst.

Racial Slur Caught on Record

Back on 6 November 2019, Robinson was overheard in a pub making racially offensive remarks about members of the public while chatting with another man. The incident sparked a formal complaint, kicking off a full investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.

Zero Tolerance for Racism in the Met

After reviewing all the evidence, the misconduct panel ruled the behaviour grossly inappropriate and dismissed Sgt Robinson without notice.

“There is no place for racism in the Metropolitan Police Service. We expect our standards to be upheld by all officers and staff whether they are on, or off duty, and with these matters proven, it is appropriate Sgt Robinson has been dismissed,” said Commander Sue Williams of Met Operations.

The Met Police send a clear message: racism will not be tolerated, on or off duty.
