Met Police Trainee Faces Sacking Over Blowout Breath Tests
Double Breath Tests Show She Was Well Over the Limit
Rosemary Edwards, a trainee Detective Constable with the Metropolitan Police, is on shaky ground. On July 22 last year, she recorded two breath test results massively above the alcohol limit. The first reading hit 141 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, followed by 144 micrograms – a staggering 11 times the legal limit of 13 micrograms for being fit for duty.
Six Hours Into Shift, Too Drunk To Serve?
The tests were taken nearly six hours after Edwards started her shift, raising red flags about her ability to perform vital police duties responsibly. Such high alcohol levels during a working day for a police officer is alarming and questions her professionalism.
Gross Misconduct Hearing Could End Career
Edwards is set to face a misconduct hearing on July 11 that could result in her dismissal from the Met. The allegations fall under gross misconduct, putting her future in the force at serious risk. The police force demands top standards, expecting officers to act with integrity and responsibility at all times.
Met Police Stand Firm on Officer Conduct
The Metropolitan Police emphasises that such behaviour is unacceptable. The upcoming hearing will decide if Edwards’ actions warrant the ultimate disciplinary action – losing her job. This case casts a shadow over the young officer’s judgment and professionalism at a pivotal stage in her career.
